Claire Huffnagel's doing another promo -- and with some great musical guests, too!
The song they're singing -- and colouring each of the letters in the style of their uniforms to indicate they're all singing together may have been a bit much -- is 'I Want Candy' by one-hit wonder Bow Wow Wow.
My musical memory, usually pretty reliable, totally fails me with this one every time. I keep thinking its by The Go-Gos, and constantly tell other people that.
And, despite the appropriateness of the chorus there, like many such songs...it isn't exactly about candy.
Other songs on the playlist for the set include: 'Sugar, Sugar', 'Big Rock Candy Mountain', 'Candy Girl' by Smile.dkm and to totally shake things up for no reason whatsoever, '
erfect Crime #2' by the Decembrists...and they do take requests. Because just like the product, too much of one thing can make you sick of it.
First, I hope Kidd-P doesn't mind that Claire booked his girls for this, without entirely asking permission (and apologies for any misspellings). Melodia, Neblina, Azana and all related concepts are (C) him: [link]
Also, Stretchy Gal Fan deserves most of the rest of the credit for this -- I borrowed heavily from his Bubblegum surprise pic for the pose. One of life's little ironies. I created the character, but he has given her the definitive portrait. Thanks, man. [link]
Figure and general composition for this one are OK, but I realize I need to work on my perspective -- Claire's hand is supposed to be pointing back towards the band -- and most of all, figuring out where my light sources are coming from!
After all my marker work, colouring pencils were a stupid choice for doing the shadows/background; it's ultimately why they have a rough unfinished look to them -- I wimped out and found it too tedious.
File that part of it under 'learning experience'. Again.
Off to work on my perspective and lighting.
